Healing

I just drove to the store and spent $30.00 on tea, cold medicine, soup, crackers and orange juice. My wife is out of town and there are an array of pots and dirty dishes on the counter. Its the first time I’ve been sick since last October.

I used to get sick every month and a half or so. I’d develop a horrible cough and mucus in my chest that would last for several weeks. This went on for a couple years and I spent a lot of time frustrated at the Lord, blaming him for why I would continually get sick.

Eventually I started going to a chiropractor. After some x-rays they discovered my spine was misaligned; the doctor told me that some of my continual sickness and my bodies inability to fight germs could very well be due to this misalignment.

I started going to the chiropractor and getting my spine worked on 3 or 4 times a week and eventually my cough went away. I went the longest without being sick that I’ve gone in years and for once felt as though I was healed.

Though I’m sick this week again, its progress. I can be encouraged that this will hopefully be the last time I’m sick for quite some time. Why? Because I went half a year without getting sick and I believe that there is hope and light in everything. I believe that God wants good for us and that trials or sickness really are meant to grow and sharpen us.

I will be better soon. It might take lots of naps, cold medicine and more tea and juice than I knew my body could hold, but things do get better and this I am thankful for.
