BY DAWN LAWRENCE
determined to be undistracted
while mapping out in color
the ways that we have traveled
together, and where we ended up—
also the roads that i followed on my own
and where i ended up
but we both know i was stranded and lost
constantly dependent on you finding me
like you always do
it not taking much for me to grab your hand
and let you lead me home again
i always get lost in your gaze set in stars
in the milky way milk spill
the multiple constellations overhead
i trace that which you breathed out
with the tips of my fingers
knowing dust is delicate
did you make us in trust?
all the maps i colored
met me here
underneath the small suns
small in distance but
big in my heart
please lead me home again
to your voice that has truth
rolling on your tongue
radiance dancing in your chest
everything you love resounding
in dreams and taking place
by stories in lives, by paper and word
be the lamp to my feet
on the maps
on the roads
that guide me home
