Members of Artist Reformation have been collaborating with SalaamGarage on their project "Long Road Home: Aging Out of Foster Care" to share stories about people who have aged out of the foster care system in the greater Seattle area. Our goal as a team of media makers, is to share these stories, as well as to raise awareness about how the foster system desperately needs reform. Currently, as foster kids turn 18, they are kicked out of their homes, very often without receiving any preparation for life after 17. It is common for them to come from homes of abuse and neglect. Nearly 40% of the nation's 27,000 youth that annually age out of foster care are homeless. Many of the girls who age out into homeless are recruited into the sex trade industry. We are not okay with that.

Our desire is to see better foster parents start fostering and teaching life skills to these children and to have more parents start adopting, becoming a forever family for these children who deserve a better life. 

We now have the opportunity to host a gallery show in order to make these stories better known and raise greater awareness. But we need your help! We have been blessed by the Art Institute of Seattle to use their facility for our gallery show free of charge, but we need to raise $5500 for all the additional costs of putting on the show.
