The Veil
pull back the veil.
remember how you would gaze on
golden shoulders —
the treetops alight by the sun’s soft
and brilliantly bold whispers?
pull back the veil,
the lace and the delicacy,
whatever is keeping you from me;
and come up to the wild-sweet,
honey-filled love.
it is all yours.
from the days of old and even now—infinitely yours.
take hold of all creation
and lace your fingers in the branches,
put your head and face to the clouds.
let your hair be tangled in the gentle wind
and breathe in the echo of your name.
put your feet firmly on holy ground.
plant seeds and be not afraid of the story
in the unseen,
unfolding
into a thousand roots of love
beneath us.
